KK Super Mart founder, director & vendor billed more than ‘Allah’ socks
Many persons connected to Malaysian benefit retail outlet chain KK Tremendous Mart have been billed in excess of the sale of socks with the word “Allah” printed on them.
The founder and director have been charged with “wounding the religious thoughts of others”, whilst the seller was charged with abetment.
KK Tremendous Mart also sued the provider of the socks for at least RM32.3 million (S$9.2 million) on Monday (25 March).
The fees appear just after serious backlash from the general public, like the King of Malaysia himself.
Keep bought socks with term ‘Allah’ on them
The KK Tremendous Mart fiasco first broke out on 13 March when photographs of a pair of socks marketed at the retailer circulated on the internet.
Printed on the cuffs was the term “Allah”.

“Overlooked or insensitive?” questioned the person who posted the illustrations or photos.
The made-in-China socks, which were being located at various retailers, angered Muslims.
According to the Information Straits Periods (NST), as of 18 March, 42 law enforcement studies have been lodged across Malaysia concerning the incident.
Even Malaysia’s King Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar took to Fb to convey his anger.

“Whether it was intentional or not . . . I want the authorities to investigate and acquire strict motion in accordance to the law so that record will not repeat alone,” he wrote.
KK Super Mart & vendor apologise for blunder
Following the backlash, KK Super Mart issued an apology on its Fb website page.

It also started exhibiting an apology on screens across its 800 retailers.
“Harmony in a multi-religious and multi-racial society is our aim. We regret that the situation happened and sincerely apologise,” the assertion read.
It also outlined that the enterprise has terminated its partnership with the seller, Xin Jian Chang Sdn Bhd, and will be having authorized action.

On 19 March, Xin Jian Chang Sdn Bhd also apologised for their oversight.
The seller claimed it experienced no intention to “incite division or harm sentiments” in just the local community. It also took rapid action to rectify the condition.
It also claimed that it did not get the socks and that they were being mistakenly despatched as part of a consignment.
KK Tremendous Mart sues supplier
On Monday (25 March), KK Super Mart sued its former seller for sabotaging its business.

The Star described that Xin Jian Chang Sdn Bhd and its director, Soh Chin Huat, were being named as the defendants.
KK Tremendous Mart is seeking the subsequent amounts:
- RM1.5 million (S$427,000) for loss of earnings
- RM10.5 million (S$3 million) for injury induced to its brand name name and goodwill in the industry
- RM20.3 million (S$5.8 million) for an aborted proposed listing on the inventory trade, aggravated, punitive or exemplary damages, as very well as curiosity, price and other aid considered healthy by the courtroom
The total amounts to RM32.3 million (S$9.2 million).
KK Mart Team founder pleads not guilty to rates
On Tuesday (26 March), KK Mart Team founder Dr Chai Kee Kan and corporation director Loh Siew Mui pleaded not guilty to rates of intentionally wounding the religious inner thoughts of other individuals, the New Straits Moments described.
The administrators of Xin Jian Chang Sdn Bhd have been also accused of abetment, The Star added.
Bail was set at RM10,000 (S$2,800) for every of them.
The situation will go to trial on 29 April.
If identified guilty, the accused could deal with a highest jail term of one particular calendar year, a fine, or each.
