The ultimate bush retreat in Belivah with “the best view this side of the mountain” is on the market for the first time in more than 25 years.
Natasha Chambers bought 90 Colwill Crescent when it was nothing but a 4.49ha parcel of land.
“It was a spot that my husband and I would drive up to and think, ‘one day we’re going to live on this hill because of the views’,” Ms Chambers said.
“Then one day there was a ‘for sale’ sign on the property, and we decided to buy it.”
Now the block boasts a spacious five-bedroom, steel-framed home spanning two levels.
The upper-level features three bedrooms, including the master, which is fitted with an ensuite, walk-in robe, a private retreat and “picturesque” views.
“Sitting on the deck in the afternoon with a cup of tea or a glass of wine, all your worries go,” Ms Chambers said.
“Because you’re not looking in on anyone else.
“And we’re directly north facing, so in the summertime we get around 30cm of sunlight on the back deck, so you don’t get any heat.
“But then in the wintertime, when you sit on the barstools in the kitchen in the morning, you get the morning sun on your back as you’re having a cup of tea, which is just beautiful.”
The upper level also contains an extra bathroom, and the kitchen, dining and living areas that open onto the veranda.
The lower level has the remaining two bedrooms, another bathroom, a second open-plan living area and another veranda with even more “breathtaking” views.
Rich timber floorboards and rustic tiles make up the flooring throughout the home.
Ms Chambers said it was a deliberate choice to “bring the outside in”.
“You’ve got the bush surrounding, so the tiles and flooring create that natural look,” she said.
The property also features a barn-style shed, two 30,000 litre water tanks, and is solar powered.
“We lived in the barn for the first ten years of being here,” Ms Chambers said.
“Then we got a local builder to build the house, which we designed.
She said the home was perfect for either a large or multi-generational family.
“Or a family who wants to either work from home or maybe run their studio from there – there’s so many different things that you can do downstairs – or you could have an Airbnb.
“We actually used to rent out the barn.”
The property includes around two acres of cleared land, which Ms Chamber said was relatively easy to maintain.
“The rest is bushland, but we have nearly a kilometre of tracks going through, which we maintain every couple of years with a Bobcat,” she said.
Ms Chambers said it was an ideal location for hosting parties and celebrations, and the perfect spot to watch the New Years fireworks.
“We were here in 2000 and the fireworks went all night – it was just amazing.”
